Generative Art
I have been fascinated by procedurally-generated art — and the intersection of art and technology more broadly — for as long as I can remember. As a child, I would enlist my siblings in schemes to automate our artistic output, assembly line style. We would each be responsible for a certain aspect of the drawing, and would pass the paper on to the next person when our work on it was done.

Creativity & Craft
Art is always comprised of two different things. First, there is the artist's creative vision, the ideas, emotions, or aesthetics they hope to convey through a piece of work. Second is the technique or craft the artist uses to execute that vision.
Slowing the Eye
Surprisingly, the actual output of my generative art practice is mostly just a happy side effect. The real value is much more personal, in the ways that working to produce generative art encourages me to engage with the world differently than I otherwise might.
The Space of Possibility
A further dynamic which generative art forces us to consider is not just the creation of a single piece of work, but creating a system of algorithms and parameters which are tuned to produce multiple works, which not only suit our artistic vision, but may even have the potential to surprise us.
