Lunar Atlas
A Three.js interactive globe at /moon-map, built as a companion to the text. The sphere uses 256×192 geometry segments with LOLA displacement mapping to represent real lunar topography. Textures are from NASA’s CGI Moon Kit (LROC color, 4K) and a tangent-space normal map derived from the LOLA digital elevation model. Twenty-five named features are plotted from IAU/USGS gazetteer coordinates; Apollo EVA traverse paths are drawn from waypoints in the Apollo Lunar Surface Journal. Tonight’s Moon phase is computed from a reference new moon epoch (6 January 2000, 18:14 UTC) and a 29.530588853-day synodic period.
